Interesting Jelly Ear and Turkey Tail mushrooms growing in our woodland

Thank you to Acacia Avenue volunteers who helped build the latest section of our new terraced beds.

The grass seed is sprouting well – and the netting is protecting it from the foxes!

Organised through the BIG Alliance, a team of volunteers from NHS Property Services demolished an old retaining wall and rebuilt it using reclaimed railway sleepers.

On Saturday 20 October, please come along any time between 10am – 4pm, for our Open Day. Visit the Garden. Plant spring bulbs. Children’s activities will be available. A great opportunity to make new friends and learn more about Olden Garden. Coffee and cake provided.

At the Islington in Bloom 2025 Awards Ceremony at The Charterhouse, Olden Garden won Gold and 3rd Place for Best Community Garden. We were also thrilled to win the Nancy Pattenden Wildlife Award. We also received Silver Gilt for Best Edible Garden. Huge thank you to Ruby and Caroline and all our volunteer gardeners for making this happen!
Awards for Best Children’s Planting were given to two of the primary school gardens managed by our professional gardener Caroline. See all the winning entries here.

Organised through the BIG Alliance, a team of volunteers from the City of London Corporation helped to rebuild a path between our orchard and the vegetable garden.

Volunteers have removed the remnants of our previous turf and the top few inches of soil including plastic mesh from the turf. We will add leaf mould, manure and compost and sow a seed mix designed as shade, drought and foot traffic tolerant. Our new lawn will emerge in the spring.

Thank you to the BIG Alliance for organising a volunteer group from Sage Publishing. They harvested fruit and moved great quantities of donated bark chippings to our woodland paths.
